Biography
Wanchan Ohyan is originally from Taiwan and graduated with top honors from National Taiwan University’s Law Department, Taiwan’s most prestigious law school. During her university years, she was deeply influenced by professors who had studied in Germany, developing rigorous legal analytical skills. In 1990, she received a full scholarship to study law in Southern Methodist University. After graduation, she successfully obtained her New York license. In 2009, she demonstrated exceptional determination by acquiring her Texas license.
Attorney Ohyan quickly identifies legal issues and resolves various challenges for clients. With more than 25 years of immigration law experience, she has successfully helped thousands of clients obtain citizenship, green cards, work visas, and other immigration benefits. Her expertise includes EB1C/L1A multinational executive and manager visas, EB5 investment immigration, extraordinary ability cases, national interest waivers, labor certifications, professional work visas, E2 investment visas, marriage-based immigration, family-based immigration, citizenship applications, and waivers.
She also has over 16 years of successful experience in business law and employment law, including business/asset sales, commercial property transactions, franchise businesses, employment contracts, and civil litigation (both jury trials and bench trials). Her ability to expand from immigration cases to business and labor law is closely related to her long-cultivated excellent legal analytical and judgment skills.
From 1999-2007, she worked at several law firms in Houston handling immigration cases. In 2008, she established the Ohyan Law Group, expanding services from immigration to contracts, business, employment, litigation, and estate planning.
